The Adrian Group has appointed Gwakisa Gallen Mwakyusa as a non-executive member of the of the board overseeing Jos Hansen, Tanzania. Eng. Mwakyusa is an accomplished environmental consultant and engineering professional, accredited by both the National Environmental Management Council (NEMC) and the Engineers Registration Board of Tanzania (ERB). With a robust skill set in environmental impact assessment, operational risk evaluation, occupational health and safety, and process optimization, he holds a membership in the International Association of Impact Assessment (IAIA) in the United States. Renowned as a lead auditor by national and multinational organizations, he is presently engaged as a consultant with the World Bank, providing invaluable insights for the oversight and evaluation of diverse projects and strategies supported by the institution.
Eng. Mwakyusa’s extensive experience encompasses numerous roles, including serving as a team leader for the supervision of environmental and social framework implementation in the Secondary Education Quality Improvement Program (SEQUIP) and the proposed 220kV Transmission Line for the SGR project’s power supply. Additionally, he is at the forefront of the Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) for the Rusumo Fall Hydropower Plant construction. Having spearheaded over 50 projects related to engineering, environment, and occupational health and safety, Gwakisa’s expertise is well-established within the construction, oil and gas, and mining sectors.
Eng. Mwakyusa holds a Master’s in Chemical Engineering (Environmental and Process Systems) from the University of Cape Town (UCT), where he also engaged as a research and teaching assistant. His commitment to education is evident through his roles as a part-time lecturer at prestigious institutions. He is the Vice President of the Institution of Engineers Tanzania (IET) and holds board memberships with the National Construction Council (NCC) and the Engineers Registration Board of Tanzania (ERB). Eng. Mwakyusa’s trajectory showcases his dedication to fostering sustainable development through engineering excellence and environmental stewardship.
